Just like you- I hate stress. I’ve worked with families for almost a decade, and I figured it out early on. Parenthood is tough. When you want children to do one thing- they often do the opposite. When you have a tight timeline, it’s as if they sense the urgency, and it almost always causes a meltdown (hey- I think we all feel that way under pressure sometimes..)
I quickly realized that my favorite sessions (and my clients’ favorite images) came from times that were relaxed, little to no direction, and were very candid in nature.
A few points to consider about WHY you should choose a documentary style session:
Stress Free! Unscripted Photo Sessions are meant to be stress free. There are no hard time limits. My goal is to be something in between a fly on the wall, and an old family friend hanging out (with a couple cameras 😉). We go with the flow- often let the children lead the way, and capture some truly stunning memories that are authentic.
Flexibility! These sessions can document anything from daily life (little moments to memorialize your little one’s childhood) to big life changes (a growing family, a new home, a new pet, etc).
Genuine moments! Without tight timelines and expectations of everyone looking at the camera and smiling, you get real personality and sweet moments that authentic for YOUR family. I even have fun questionnaires that will help me capture things that are most important to you at this point in your life.
Completely unique! No staged photos and overused props here!! Documentary sessions allow us to capture your family (and home!) exactly as they are – completely unique with all the qualities you love most about them.
Value! When you look back at photos from a documentary session – you’ll be transported to those moments where you were genuinely involved and not praying that the kids will all cooperate and look at the camera at the same time. You’ll feel the love you had in that moment, cherishing their tiny hands and voices as you enjoy these photos for a lifetime.

Hey everyone!! I know it’s been a while. I’ve been busy.. and I’ve totally neglected my blog and most of social media (aside from a couple posts here & there). Sorry for being MIA! I promise, all is well.. but I’ve been longing for a beach day- and one has finally been set up! Next Wednesday (Aug 2nd) I’ll be in Stone Harbor NJ doing mini sessions on the beach! I highly recommend you play hooky from work and swing by with the kiddos. We all need a mental health day from time to time, and the beach is the best place for rest, relaxation, and adorable family photos. (If you don’t believe me, take it from the mermaid.. 😍)
I’ll see you there?! Shoot me a message to set up your session!
I cannot believe it is almost DECEMBER! When did that happen?! What happened to summer?! Ugh, to have warmth again. BUT we do have twinkly lights and hot chocolate.. and the movie Elf to warm our spirits for a month or so.. 😉

*UPDATE* The Latch On Event was rescheduled to September 17th! Same time & place! See you there!!
Last year, The Big Latch on at Nemours was an incredible day. This year the event is the week AFTER The Global Big Latch On, but it will still be a beautiful fun-filled day. Join us on Saturday, August 13th from 10am-2pm with your family, and make sure you stop by early to sign up for a mini session at my table! See the Facebook event page here!
This was SUCH a gorgeous day. Cait was surrounded by love and support from a small group of close friends and family. She received gifts of birth affirmations, birth beads, and sacred offerings to remind her of the love and support that would continue to surround her throughout the remainder of her pregnancy and the birth of her baby. At the time, her baby’s gender was a surprise.. but a few weeks after this beautiful day, Baby Max made his way earth-side. 💗
At the last minute (back in the spring), we decided to schedule a maternity session to capture The Bovee Family for the last time as a family of four + bump before Mr. Owen made his grand debut! If you follow my Facebook page, you probably heard a lot about Owen during the last few weeks of Kim’s pregnancy, and Owens early days/weeks because of his CCAM. You can learn more about Owen & The Bovee’s story here.
We had a lot of fun during this session, trekking through mud (sorry, Kim…) and dancing to Steve’s iPhone to get Sydney to actually smile. ❤
I met Renée & Stephen through my cousin Melanie. They were expecting their first child and we spent Renée’s first Mother’s Day doing a belly casting of her adorable baby bump at 37 weeks… and only four days later, sweet baby Anton arrived early! We could not have timed this project more perfectly! It took me a little longer to finish getting the belly bowl ready, but he still fit just perfect for his newborn photos almost two weeks later.
Belly casting was SO fun and Renée and Stephen were thrilled with the outcome. They have incredible pictures of exactly how their sweet baby fit in mom’s tummy, and they have a perfect keepsake to show him when he’s older! I’m so ready to do another belly cast bowl… who wants one?! 😉
